The Sunrise

Mornin’, Friends.
I’m sitting here with a cup of coffee, watching the best show on earth: the sun coming up over the Paddocks and Pastures.
There is something special about the sunrise. It’s that quiet time when the darkness finally gives way to the light, and you get to see the world wake up fresh and new. The frost is still on the fence rails, the horses are blowing steam in the paddocks waiting on their breakfast, and the air is crisp.
This is my everyday morning, and it's a reminder to me of God’s faithfulness. You see, yesterday might have been a hard ride. Maybe things went wrong. Maybe a colt threw you, or a deal fell through, or you just felt beat down by the weight of the world.
But the sun didn't refuse to rise this morning because of it.
I believe too many folks stay stuck in yesterday’s failures. They’re walking around nursing yesterday’s wounds or regretting yesterday’s choices. They’re trying to ride into a new day while dragging a trailer load of guilt from the past. You can’t make good time riding like that.
I want to remind you that God is in the business of new beginnings. He is the God of sunrise, not sunset.
The Bible tells us in Lamentations that His mercies are new every morning. Not "leftover from last week," but new. Just like the dew on the grass. When we come to Him in repentance and faith, He doesn't hold a grudge. He wipes the slate clean.
Think about the Apostle Peter. He had a terrible "yesterday" when he denied the Lord three times. He probably thought his riding days were over and that he’d been cut from the crew. But Jesus met him at a sunrise, by a campfire, cooking breakfast. The Lord didn’t lecture him; He restored him. He gave him a job to do. That’s the kind of morning shift God is offering you—not a lecture, but a restoration.
If you are waking up today feeling heavy, or if you're dreading the work because of what happened yesterday, you need to look at that horizon. The darkness is gone. The light is here. God is offering you a fresh start right now.
Don't waste today looking back at the sunset of your failures. Turn your face toward the Son and ride forward.
Let’s Pray: Lord, thank You for new mornings and new mercies. I confess I've been holding on to things I should have let go of. Help me release yesterday’s failures and embrace the fresh start You're offering today. Give me the faith to believe You can make all things new, including me. Let me live today in the full light of Your grace and forgiveness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Take a deep breath this morning, friends. The past is behind you, and the trail ahead is bathed in light.
Go make it a good one.

I'm still learning to forget those things of the past and look forward to heavenly trail ahead. Amidst the gullets, briars, thistles and rough terrain, I'm thankful the Lord is our ultimate Trail Boss and will never lead us off the right and true trails of life.
