Green Broke and God's Grace

Written by Cowboy Evangelist Rev. Joseph Holmes

Produced by H C Cowboy Ministries

Scripture Focus: Philippians 1:6 (KJV) — "Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ."

Good morning everyone. Happy Tuesday family and friends well we made it past another Monday Amen. Let's all take a moment to give thanks to the Lord for another day, and be sure to give Him all the Glory in all that we do. I hope your coffee is hot and your spirit is ready for the Word.

Now let me start this mornings devotion by saying if you have ever started a colt, you know what "green broke" means. It means he is saddled, he is rideable, and he has the basics down. But he isn't finished. He might side-pass a scary mailbox one minute and walk perfectly the next. He might take the correct lead on the first try, or he might fight the bit because he is confused. He is a work in progress.

A good horseman doesn't sell a colt just because he makes a green mistake. He doesn't get angry when the horse stumbles; he just talks to him calmly, he corrects him, and keeps riding. He knows that training takes time.

The problem is, we don't treat ourselves with that same patience.

We make a mistake—maybe we lose our temper, or we slip back into an old habit—and immediately we think, "I'm a failure. God must be sick and tired of me." We think because we aren't perfect yet, we aren't saved.

But lets look at the scripture. The Apostle Paul says he is confident that God, who began a good work in you, will perform it until the end. God knows you are "green broke." He knows you are still learning to trust His hands. He isn't surprised when you spook at the scary things in life. And praise God, He doesn't quit on you when you stumble. He isn't looking for a perfect ride today; He is looking for a willing heart. As long as you keep riding for the brand, you belong to him and he will show Love, mercy, and grace. Don’t let that devil try to change your brand stand firm. He will keep molding you into the cowboy He designed you to be

Let say something to everyone this morning who feels like quitting. You feel like you've messed up too many times, and you are tired of fighting your own weaknesses. You think you are too "Rank" for God to ever use. I want to invite you to stop fighting Jesus. Quit trying to fix yourself and just surrender to His hands. If you are ready to let God finish what He started in your life, I invite you to pray with me right now.

Let’s Pray

Father, thank You for not giving up on us. Lord, we admit that we are still green. We still make mistakes, we still get scared, and sometimes we still fight the bit. Forgive us for our impatience. Thank You for being a patient and loving God who picks us up when we stumble instead of kicking us out of the herd. Teach us to trust Your timing and Your hands. Keep working on us, Lord, until we are finished. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Today I want to ask a question. Are you beating yourself up for a mistake that God has already forgiven you for?

Remember one thing. "A stumble doesn't mean the ride is over; it just means you need to find your balance. Trust in Jesus, not your fear."
