He Didn't Quit on You

I rode past a silent homestead where the walls were tumbling down, Where the dreams of those who built it lay scattered on the ground. The weeds had took the garden and the gate was swinging wide, A monument to quitting where the hope had dried and died.
It got me thinking 'bout the Lord and the trail He had to ride, With the weight of all our sinfulness packed heavy on His side. He could have called the angels down and left us to our fate, He could have dropped the saddle at the Garden’s rusty gate.
They beat Him and they mocked Him and they nailed Him to the wood, But He didn't quit the mission, though He surely could have stood. He saw the herd was drifting toward the canyon of despair, And He paid the cost to save us with His dying breath and prayer.
So tell me, Christian cowboy, when the trail gets rough and steep, When the world is mocking you and the mud is belly-deep, Do you reckon you should turn around and leave the Master there? After everything He suffered, do you think that that is fair?
We’re called to ride for Jesus, not just when the sun is bright, But through the storm and shadows of the darkest, coldest night. It might cost you friends and family, it might cost you pride and fame, But you cannot quit the Savior who has called you by your name.
So tighten up your cinch, my friend, and set your jaw like flint, And don't you let the devil see a single sign of quit. For the One who rode to Calvary and didn't count the cost, Deserves a hand who stays aboard until the river’s crossed

Very encouraging poem, preacher. Wakes the heart up !
